Saul Leiter.
Saul Leiter is an american photographer who is known for shooting photos through windows into busy new york streets. One thing that is important about his photos is that the people in the photos look lonely either being physically alone or being in the foreground while others are in the background. When he developed the colour film for his photos he often used inexpensive or expired colour film to see how the film would affect the images colours. These photos relate to framing as the first one has a pole cutting vertically in the left third, almost making the photo into two photos. The first photo shows a waiter who is serving drinks to people in a cafe or resteraunt. The waiter looks lonely as he is in focus and the people in the background are slightly out of focus which isolates him from everyone else in the room, but in the left part of the picture, to the side of the pole there is a man looking down, sitting alone who also looks lonely even though he is also out of focus. The second picture is in black and white from a publication called "in my room". The woman is in the centre third with mirrors and objects surrounding her framing her. She is naked alone on the bed, which links to the idea that she is lonely.
I could recreate this photographers work by taking pictures through windows and using mirrors.
John Szarkowski.
Szarkowski is an american photographer who is well known for "the photohgraphers eye" which is a publication of his photos and his writings. His photographs focus on people and buildings mostly and a little bit of nature. The picture of the trees is interesting because they almost seem like two different pictures layered onto eachother, and even though they are intertwined together they feel like two seperate photos. The building picture cute the image into two pieces, one a busy street filled with cars and one a quiet apartment block. He almost makes it seem like they could be in two different worlds.
I could recreate his photos by doing something similar with buildingsand trying to develop his idea with the trees. i could shoot in black and white or convert the photos to black and white in photoshop

Eugene Atget
Atget is a french photographer well known for his documentary photography of architecture and streets in paris, before it was modernized in the 19th century. Atgets framins consists of buildings, windows and doorways. The photo of the road leading to the right is framed by using the buildings around it to frame the thin road. The bright sky also closes off the top of the picture. The connotation of this photo is that he mightve felt like he was trapped in his journey, and since it seems like the road is cut off it could show that he couldnt go back. This could link to paris being modernized and him wanting it to stay the same.I could recreate his style by trying to take pictures of older streets and buildings in black and white or convet them into black and white in photoshop.
